It is with profound sadness that we share the news of Barbara Caster’s passing on August 20, 2018. Our sadness is for ourselves as we will miss her dearly each and every day. We rejoice in knowing that she is in heaven with our Lord. Our greatest source of peace is knowing that she is in God’s loving embrace and reunited with her beloved family members who were there to welcome her to God’s kingdom.
Please join us for a rosary service on Friday, August 31 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Mother of Confidence Catholic Church (3131 Governor Drive, San Diego.) Please also join us for Barbara’s funeral on Saturday, September 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Mother of Confidence Catholic Church. There will be a luncheon at the parish hall after Mass.

The first day of the 2018-2019 school year is on Monday, August 27, 2018. We are looking forward to another wonderful year!
There is no school on Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day. School resumes on Tuesday, May 28. Enjoy your long weekend!
All sports fees are due for winter and spring sports. Please submit payment to the school office. Sports fees are $50 per athlete.
Special people deserve a special day. Please join us for our Grandparents Day on Wednesday, May 22 from 10:00 a.m. to noon. The day will include Mass and Crowning of Mary, classroom visits, and refreshments. We hope to see you there!
Please keep in mind that the balance of registration fees is due on or before Friday, May 31. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.
Our last day of school is on Wednesday, June 12. This is also a minimum day. It has been a wonderful school year, and we wish everyone a safe and enjoyable summer!
Don't miss out on the fun! Enjoy a delicious Maui Wowi smoothie during the golf ball drop on Thursday, May 16. Available flavors include strawberry, mango orange, and lemon wave. The cost is $5 per smoothie. Please send money with your child.
Join St. Kieran Catholic School for Catholic Schools Night with the San Diego Padres on Friday, May 31 at Petco Park. The Padres will be playing against the Miami Marlins at 7:10 p.m. Be sure to order your reserved group ticket soon! Check out our May 2, 2019, newsletter for all the details.
Easter break is on Thursday, April 18 through Friday, April 26. School resumes on Monday, April 29. Have a wonderful holiday and a safe and relaxing break!
Our golf ball drop is on Thursday, May 16 at 2:00 p.m. on the field. First prize is $2,000, second prize is $300, and third prize is $200. The top student seller wins $200, and the student who sells the winning number gets $100!
We will be hosting a school book fair the week of April 8 through April 12. Come visit, and purchase books. Our book fairs help support our school library with new books. There are books for all ages and reading levels, so come look at the great selections.

Parent-teacher conferences are on Thursday, April 11 and on Friday, April 12. We will email you your conference date and time on or before Monday, April 1. We look forward to discussing your student's progress with you.
All box tops are due by Wednesday, April 17 for our spring contest. The winning class gets a pizza party. Please remember to label your bag with your student's name and grade.

Our 2019 gala has come and gone, and it was a beautiful evening of fellowship, raffles, games, and dancing. Thank you to all our St. Kieran family and friends who attended the event to make it such a wonderful evening! A special thank you goes out to our gala committee and parents who helped set up for the evening. We could not have had such a wonderful night without the people there to celebrate our outstanding school and to make the evening a success.
As you all know, our fundraisers each year help keep our school alive and well. We appreciate all the families who participate in our annual gala. We look forward to next year's gala and are ready to have you on the gala committee to help make next year a bigger success!

Please join us for lunch on the lawn on Friday, February 1 at 12:00 p.m. Hot dog meals are $5, and burger meals are $6. Orders are due by Wednesday, January 30, and the proceeds will help send our 6th graders to camp. We look forward to seeing you there!
St. Kieran families: please pray for Paul Stabile, the sports league director. He is in the ICU with pneumonia and a secondary infection. Your prayers are very appreciated.
St. Kieren presents Casino Royal on Saturday, January 26 at 5:30 p.m. This is a black-tie event, and we invite everyone to join us! Tickets are $60, and we ask that you please RSVP by January 18. To reserve a room at the Barona Hotel, call (877) 287.2624. The rate is $149 plus an 8% tax if you use the group code, which you can find in our newsletter, along with other information. We hope to see you there!
We are in the middle of our Box Tops contest, which goes from December 1 to 31. Keep bringing in your Box Tops and be sure to label them with your name and grade. The winning class will get a pizza party!
Please note that when you arrive in the morning for school, you are late if you do not join your class at the benches. If the class has left the benches, parents need to bring children to the office for a late slip. Thank you!

There will be a holiday bake and craft sale the weekend of Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18. The sale will be in the Divine Mercy Hall after all masses.
We will be selling lunch combos immediately following the jog-a-thon on Friday, November 16. Each combo will include chips, watermelon slices, vegetables, and bottled water. Hamburger combos are $6, and hot dog combos are $5. Please complete and return the order form to the office no later than Monday, November 12. Thank you!

Make-up picture day is on Tuesday, November 6. Dress your best, and be ready to smile!
Parent-teacher conferences are on Thursday, November 8 and on Friday, November 9. We will dismiss students at 12:00 p.m. on both days. Your conference date and time were sent out via email. If you cannot keep your scheduled time, be sure to communicate with your child's teacher to arrange another time. If you did not receive the email, please call the office, and we will give you the information.
We allow students to wear costumes or to dress in Halloween colors on Halloween! We would like to remind parents, guardians, and students that we require costumes to be modest, light-hearted, and appropriate. Please see our latest newsletter for more information about our costume requirements. You may contact us with any questions.
Our recycling efforts recently made $43 for our sixth grade camp! We will also receive $55.50 for our collection of 550 Box Tops! We appreciate your efforts and urge you to keep collecting!

Tickets are now available for the St. Kieran raffle. Prizes include turkeys, a honey baked ham certificate, and a Super Nintendo Classic. Buy your tickets before and after school, at church on Sunday, and in the school office.
We truly appreciate all of our volunteers! Please take the time to complete the safe environment training. Once your training is complete, please send certificates to school as verification. Below you will find additional information on the training as well as a link to the training itself.
Our turkey trot is on Friday, November 16. Please turn in your neon forms as soon possible. We are looking forward to a great time!
All field trip drivers must complete the following steps prior to driving:
- Complete the online safe environment training and background check as mandated by the Diocese of San Diego.
- Complete the online safe driving course as mandated by the Diocese of San Diego.
- Complete the driver information form provided to you by the teacher or school office.
Be sure to choose St. Kieran School, not St. Kieran Parish, when completing the online information. Please print or email the certificates of completion to the school. Thank you!
St. Kieran parish is looking for youth members to join the choir. 2nd through 8th grade will sing at the 10:00 a.m. mass on the first two Sundays of each month, and 9th through 12th grade will sing at the 10:00 a.m. mass on the third, fourth, and fifth Sundays of each month. There will be a 30 minute rehearsal after mass for all choir members. Please contact Mrs. Charfauros via email for more information.

Please join us for our monster mash dance on Friday, October 12 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the hall. There will be fun for the whole family including a costume contest, raffle, dancing, and St. Kieran Catholic School dad DJ Eddie Vandiver. Dinner and desserts will be available for purchase. A slice of pizza, chips, and a drink will be $3.00, and desserts are all $1.00 each. If you pre-RSVP by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11 the cost is $20 per family or $5 per person. The cost at the door is $30 per family or $10 per person. We are looking forward to spooky good time!
We invite you to bring your pet for a special blessing on Monday, October 1 at 8:15 a.m. Families must bring the pet and take it home after the blessing. All pets must be in a cage or on a leash, and families must control pets at all times. If you are not able to bring your pet, you can bring a picture of your pet to the blessing.
If your child is absent from school, you will need to report the absence and the reason to the school by 9:00 a.m. Please email the teacher and copy the office, or email the office and copy the teacher. You can also call the school office, and the office will let the teacher know. You can record messages before and after office hours on our answering machine.
A complete student roster and our family directory were recently included in the weekly envelope. Please keep both items handy for reference, and let us know if you note any errors. Thank you!
Relax and let your inner artist have some fun! Please join us on Friday, September 21 from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. for our SKCS Moms' Paint Night! We will meet at St. Kieran Divine Mercy Hall. Please join us for our open house on Sunday, September 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to tour the campus and meet our teachers and students. We encourage you to invite relatives, friends, and neighbors who have school-age children to visit our amazing school!

St. Joseph Pantry of St. Kieran Church thanks St. Kieran Catholic School students, staff, and parents for collecting and donating lots and lots of toiletry items for distribution to our needy and homeless clients. Your generosity in living the corporal works of mercy allows our pantry to help the poor in our own neighborhood. Not only do your classes help bag food items, but with your generosity, our pantry additionally is able to distribute these personal hygiene items. In this way, we acknowledge the dignity of every person. May our Lord continue to bless our Catholic school!
Welcome back, families! This is just a reminder that all students dropped off at school before 8:00 a.m. must have a parent or legal guardian sign them into daycare. If another family is picking up your child(ren), please send an email stating which persons may pick them up. If they are planning on going home with another student, we need vocal confirmation or an email stating that another parent can take your child(ren) home with them.
