A Message from Our Principal

Dear St. Kieran Catholic School Families,

Where has this year gone? It feels like yesterday when our scholars were dropping off their supplies for this year beaming with bright smiles and an eagerness to begin the 2023–2024 school year. Now, fast forward to June, and here we are. The last weeks have been filled with an elevated level of energy, eagerness for high school, nostalgia upon the past, and a feeling of summer.

This is a time to reflect upon the significance of growth academically, emotionally, and spiritually. Your child has grown and matured in many ways. The young men and women they are developing into speaks to your focus on family and Christ. This is a time to celebrate our Catholic scholars’ progress and accomplishments, hard work, and the many milestones they have reached this year. They did it! You did it! We did it!

This week your children visited their upcoming classrooms for Move Up Day. It is exciting for our students to get a sneak preview of next year’s teacher and curriculum, and for our teachers to meet their incoming scholars. It is also a fun time to welcome our Pre-K class up to the “big school” to visit the kindergarten room.

This week we celebrated our final Mass together for this school year. Fr. Ben celebrated, our sixth grade led by proclaiming the Scriptures, second grade carried up the offertory gifts, and Fr. Ben blessed us all for a healthy summer.

Our final event of the school year is Field Day on Friday, June 14. This is a day of fun and friendly competitions between “school families”. There will be teams made up of students from every grade, led by the seventh graders. Students wear their PE uniforms on Field Day. Our young ladies and gentlemen have the option to wear non-uniform athletic shoes, but they must be athletic shoes. Sunscreen , shade hats, and sun glasses are recommended. It is going to be a warm day. Many of the games involve water, and students can expect to get wet. This is an exciting event where we really recruit all dads/grandfathers to help. Parents are invited to help set up and run the games, starting after drop off on Friday. Please let the office know if you can help. Following Field Day, at 11:15 a.m. we will have a barbecue lunch hosted by the Tellez family in the lunch court. All proceeds from this barbecue fundraiser will go towards our new STEAM lab. Thank you to the Tellez family!

Friday is a minimum day, and dismissal is at noon. Let summer begin!

Faculty News

June not only brings closure to the school year, but it also blossoms new additions to our St. Kieran faculty while we say goodbye with gratitude to our friends and faculty. God guides our path in life. He opens the doors to opportunity and directs us how to best serve. You will meet new faces this coming year. We will greatly miss our faculty who will be transitioning to a new chapter of opportunity in their life. Miss. Silvia is retiring after serving in the Diocese for over 25 years. Mrs. Trejos, Mrs. Steck, and Ms. Kerr will embark upon new beginnings in their careers. Mrs. DiGiovanni brought her expertise to fifth grade this year and came to our rescue to ensure our fifth graders were well guided and supported academically and prepared for middle school. Additionally, a token of gratitude to Mrs. Diane Adkins, school secretary, who will be retiring this summer. We are very blessed and so grateful for the love and dedication all our faculty have given to our scholars. We send them with all of God’s blessings in their future endeavors. They will be missed!

We are working diligently in filling positions with highly qualified and spiritually dedicated teachers to serve our Catholic community. Please welcome Mrs. Jeandark Putris, a seasoned veteran with experience at St. Augustine and St. Kieran, who will join our middle school team teaching religion and history. Please welcome Miss. Kathleen Merriman, a veteran Catholic school teacher who is relocating from Virginia and will be teaching first grade. Please welcome Mrs. Nelly Cameron who is coming to us from Mater Dei and who will join our middle school team teaching science and math. Mrs. Rhiannon Meshot is returning to her favorite field of expertise, kindergarten. Mrs. Tomasello will be dedicated to supporting our school as assistant principal.
