SKCS partners with Inland Federal Credit Union to help students learn the value of saving. Twice a month, a member of the staff of INFCU comes onsite at 8:30 a.m. and takes deposits from students for their savings accounts. If you'd like to open an account for your child/ren, pick up an application, complete and send it with a deposit. The first deposit day is Friday, September 16.
If you plan on attending school events, such as class parties or field trips, you must complete the training on CMG Connect: Safe Environment and the Background Check. It doesn't take long, and it is mandatory!
If you have already completed CMG, please take a moment to check that it has not expired. The renewal process takes minutes to do. Your certification requires renewal approximately every five years.
Please email the school office and cc the homeroom teacher by 8:15 a.m. to let us know your student is absent and the reason. You can also call the school office at (619) 588-6398.

Our girls varsity basketball team completed their dream season with a perfect 5-0 record and first place in the Varsity B Division. Congratulations to Anna Cribbs, Ashley Smith, Rebecca Wharton, Aja Antonio, Katie Petrich, Hailey Farida, and Kisha Encarnacion for their championship season. This team's success started with their stingy defense. The girls gave up just four points per game on average. Great effort on defense often led to easy baskets. Because of scheduling conflicts, the team played many games with only five girls. This was no matter, because they always played with great effort and attitude. Special thanks to Coach Mike Cribbs, who led the team with patience and great instruction while allowing the girls to have fun.
Fun fact: Six of the girls on the basketball team also played volleyball. These girls finished the year with a perfect 13-0 record. Girls sports is alive and well at SKCS.
Thank you to those who participated in going to the San Diego Public Library during the month of April! Mrs. Madison Steck was so happy to receive notes and pictures of the books students checked out. There are so many libraries that our students go to, including the Alpine, Pine Valley, Descanso, Crest, Rancho San Diego, and El Cajon libraries. Wow, that's a lot of options! We encourage you to visit a library now that there are new hours in the evenings and weekends. There is also an online requesting system for materials that aren't at the physical library you visit. You can even use this system to check out movies that you weren’t able to see in theaters or on streaming platforms, and it's a great cost-saving tool for families. There will also be a summer reading program starting in June, so look out for information about that!

A prayer from the Lenten Retreat by four middle school boys:
Lord Jesus, we are sorry for all the pain you must have gone through during your crucifixion. We feel pain every day, and we use Your grace to get through it. It must have taken a lot of courage to face Your fate of crucifixion on the cross. We need to be more like You and accept our pain and forgive the people who hurt us. Help us, Christ, when times get hard. We ask this of You through Christ our Lord.
Our goal is to replace the very old playground structure in the upper yard near the lunch tables. We hope to make it safer and multi-grade friendly with more engaging activities.
