We have dedicated this page to keeping you informed of all things new and noteworthy at St. Kieran Catholic School. While you’re here, be sure to check out our newsletters at the side of the page. Please also visit our Calendar page for important dates to remember for the school year.
To re-register your current student(s) and/or add a new one, go to SchoolSpeak and you'll find the registration link. Please make note of the following deadlines:
- A re-registration fee of $50 per child is due by May 27.
- The remaining fees are due by June 24.
If you cannot manage registering on SchoolSpeak, come into the office and we'll give you a paper copy.
If your child is absent, we require that you notify both the teacher and the office by 8:15 a.m. and give the reason for the absence. If you are picking up your child earlier than 2:45 p.m., it helps the office if you let us know ahead of time. That way we can be ready to facilitate a smooth dismissal. Thank you for your cooperation.
All library books are due by May 31, 2022! Please return any library books you may have back to the school.
Our girls varsity basketball team completed their dream season with a perfect 5-0 record and first place in the Varsity B Division. Congratulations to Anna Cribbs, Ashley Smith, Rebecca Wharton, Aja Antonio, Katie Petrich, Hailey Farida, and Kisha Encarnacion for their championship season. This team's success started with their stingy defense. The girls gave up just four points per game on average. Great effort on defense often led to easy baskets. Because of scheduling conflicts, the team played many games with only five girls. This was no matter, because they always played with great effort and attitude. Special thanks to Coach Mike Cribbs, who led the team with patience and great instruction while allowing the girls to have fun.
Fun fact: Six of the girls on the basketball team also played volleyball. These girls finished the year with a perfect 13-0 record. Girls sports is alive and well at SKCS.
Thank you to those who participated in going to the San Diego Public Library during the month of April! Mrs. Madison Steck was so happy to receive notes and pictures of the books students checked out. There are so many libraries that our students go to, including the Alpine, Pine Valley, Descanso, Crest, Rancho San Diego, and El Cajon libraries. Wow, that's a lot of options! We encourage you to visit a library now that there are new hours in the evenings and weekends. There is also an online requesting system for materials that aren't at the physical library you visit. You can even use this system to check out movies that you weren’t able to see in theaters or on streaming platforms, and it's a great cost-saving tool for families. There will also be a summer reading program starting in June, so look out for information about that!

A prayer from the Lenten Retreat by four middle school boys:
Lord Jesus, we are sorry for all the pain you must have gone through during your crucifixion. We feel pain every day, and we use Your grace to get through it. It must have taken a lot of courage to face Your fate of crucifixion on the cross. We need to be more like You and accept our pain and forgive the people who hurt us. Help us, Christ, when times get hard. We ask this of You through Christ our Lord.

Middle School Elective Coordinator: You can do this job from home! The job includes recruiting teachers, assigning students to classes, reminding teachers about classes via email or text, and possibly shopping for the classes. If we do not get a coordinator there will be no middle school electives.
Teachers: We need teachers for middle school electives including arts and crafts, home economics, cooking, sewing, sports, woodworking, or anything you would like to teach the students. Your teaching commitment is four 55-minute classes a semester.
Please direct questions to the Parent-Teacher Group via email.
Drop off a full bag of cans and plastic bottles by the seventh-grade classroom, and your name will be entered in a drawing to win lunch from the fast food place of your choice. Don’t forget to put your family name on the bag! Drawings will be once a month.

If you are driving children other than your own, you need to complete the driver information form and file it with the office.
Visit CMG Connect for all training information. If you are a one-time volunteer, a COVID-19 vaccination or test is not required.
